Erase your Browsing Traces.

Whenever you search the net, and view files on your computer your operating method is taking note of these operations, and stores them for later. This can be a useful tool for re-tracing your footsteps; but what happens when you don’t require other people to be able to finding out where you’ve been. You should clean up your computer.
This may appear a bit technical but it’s simple and useful:
Removing Traces from Windows
- Click "My Computer" on your desktop (Or open up "Windows Explorer"
- Navigate by click two times to: "C Drive" - > "Documents and Settings"
- Next you need to go to click two times on whatever username you are logged in as.
- Sometimes by default folders will be hidden in here. Let's:
- Go to "Tools" - > "Folder Options..." in the menu bar
- Select the "View" tab
- In the scrollbox select the radio button by "Show hidden files and folders"
- Press "Apply" and then "Ok"
- Click two times on "My Recent Documents" and delete everything inside of this folder.
- Next return a folder and click two times on "Local Settings"
- In this folder will be all of the cache and history files that they ought to have delete in the Web Explorer instructions above. Let's double check.
- Delete everything from inside of the "History", "Temp" and "Temporary Web Files".
- Done!

Windows Vs. Linux Hosting

Linux and Windows 2000 are the types of software also known as operating systems that web servers use to perform, the kind of thing that web servers perform.

However if one’s site incorporates an online searchable database or interactive chat facilities then Windows 2000 or NT is considered best in most of the cases. It is little bit expensive but in return it provides reduced development time and better functionality.

Thus compensating the extra cost.

Advantages of using Linux based web server compared to Windows based web server:

Stability: Traditionally Linux/Unix operating systems were considered to be very stable and robust. With up time as high as 99.9%, a web site housed on a Linux operating system was considered best. While talking in reference to maintaining the system up time other factors like power supply, network admin skills, and network load etc. also matters a lot.

Reduced cost of ownership: In terms of cost the Linux OS comes absolutely free of cost or at very insignificant cost that too mainly cost of distribution. In addition it is well equipped with full-fledged server, and desktop applications that are free along with the OS. The server applications like FTP, Web Server, and DNS Server, File Server etc are free as well as very stable.

Easy to use: In case of Linux web hosting it is quite easy to host on Linux web servers. There is no major difference between uploading process and hosting in case of both Linux and Windows web servers. One must make sure that the Front Page extensions are enabled while using a Windows based tool such as Front Page for uploading a web site on to a Linux based web server. However this is only required if one is uploading using HTTP feature of Front Page. Also it is possible to upload a web site using FTP, as Front Page makes it possible. Easy movements between hosts: It’s quite easy to shift to another server in case of Linux based web server. A web site designed to be hosted on a Linux based web server can be easily hosted on a Windows web server but that facility is not available in case of Windows based web servers.

Facebook “clickjacking” spreads rapidly all over the site




The Web Security lab has warned that number of Facebook users are facing the trouble of fake page. They are now encountering an attack called as 'clickjacking'.
As per reports, some of the Facebook users are now getting new links by their friends like World Cup 2010 live coverage or any celebrity's personal phone number. But when they click on that link, it leads to a fake page. There has been number of cases of the same problem.
The experts has said that now the links do not have any malicious content, but later it can deliver malware or suspected scripts, which may damage PCs of the facebook users. So there is high risk of getting virus or malware from such fake pages.
When the users click on these links, they start loading a page where the users are asked to confirm that they are over 18 years of age. When the user enters in to the site by clicking the required button, it adds a link to their facebook profile saying that the users have liked that site.
As per a senior technology consultant Mr. Graham Cluley, currently the links do not content any malware or phishing attacks. It contents small viruses and checking how many users they are getting.

AllDup is a freeware which enables you to find duplicate files on your Computer. The programs has a host of options allowing you to find matches of file by size, name, date, attributes, created date and even byte to byte comparison. You can perform search across multiple folders or drives. The program implements a fast algorithm and the results are displayed very quickly.
After selecting the folders that you want to scan, just hit the scan button and the program will find and display the results. The results are displayed in the group and they also give you more information like the name of the file, location, size etc. You can select the files that you want to remove or you can further filter it by using the smart selection option that can select files based on there locations or date. There are several things you can do with the duplicate files. You can remove them, move or copy them to a new location or even rename

Open Windows in 3D using T3Desk

T3Desk is a freeware which lets you preview all your open Windows in a 3D like style. It can be called as an Alt-Tab replacement but it lets you arrange the open and minimized windows in 3D style. Now instead of minimizing your windows to the taskbar, you can arrange them on your desktop in a 3D like environment where you can flip and zoom between them. The program also makes use of the Aero feature if you use it on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

To minimize a window 3D style, simply right click on the minimize icon instead of the usual left click. Instead of being minimized to to the desktop, the window will remain inactive on your desktop in a 3D style fashion. You can drag and rearrange them across various positions of the screen. The windows that you minimize using this tool will also remain grouped in a T3 icon on the taskbar. Hover over it and it will give you a preview of all the windows that have been minimized. You can customize lot of setting like the transparency, zoom level, perspective settings, initial rotation, animations and lots more. You can also customize a number of hotkeys which you can use to quickly minimize all your open windows in a single button press. The transition effects can also be customized to suit your liking.
Unlike other applications of such type, the program has a low memory consumption and it worked fine on my Windows 7 without any issues. The program is a freeware and works on almost all the version of Windows. However, if you are on Windows 7 and Windows Vista, you will really love it with Aero.

Google Talk Bots: exploring the functionalities

You can do lot of interesting stuff with Google Talk like get alert notifications, save bookmarks to delicious, manage web calendars, set reminders, write blogs, and so much more.
Such features can be easily integrated into Google Talk through ‘bots’ which, in simple English, are like virtual friends who are online 24×7 and will always respond with a smile to your questions or requests.

Decide priority for the processes running on your system

Prio - Process Priority Saver.

This compact program allows you to save the priority you specify for any process.

How to use -
    Start the Task Manager.
    Right-click a process and select Set Priority.
    Set the priority you want for the process.



Prio will save the applied changes and each time you start this process from now on, it will set the saved priority for it. You will not have to change the priority manually any more
What is the priority of an application?

Windows is a multitasking system. It means that a lot of various applications are running simultaneously in it. You directly work with some of them, but some of them work invisibly and independently. The priority of an application is a parameter that tells the system which task has priority over other tasks. For example, if there are two programs that are running simultaneously and with the same priority, they will have equal shares of the processor time. But in case you set a higher priority for one of them, the program that has this higher priority will use all the free processor time while the one with a lower priority will use only the rest of it. For example, if you have an application for rendering a video clip running on your computer, it will use the free processor time sharing it equally with, say, Explorer. It will result in Explorer working jerkily... But if you set a lower priority for the rendering program, it will use only the time that Explorer does not need. Explorer will work more smoothly and faster. It is also convenient to set a higher priority for multimedia players - the playback will be smoother. If you have some database service running on your computer, it is useful to set a lower priority for it so that it does not interfere with the work of those applications you are using at the moment. You can change the priority of processes on the Processes tab of Task Manager. Prio automatically detects any changes in priority and saves them in its settings. Next time you start this application, its priority will be restored.

Prio enhances the standard Processes tab with useful tooltips containing detailed information about each running process: its name, manufacturer, version and full path to the executable file. It also shows which system services are currently running in each process, if there are any. Prio adds a check box specifying whether the priority of this application should be restored to the standard popup menu, as well as the command for switching to one of the services that are currently in this process.Besides, the digital signature of an executable file is verified for each process. Processes that possess such a signature will be highlighted in green, processes without a signature will be highlighted in red. If you are sure about the origin of a process while its executable file has no digital signature, you can mark is as valid using the "Treat As Valid" menu item and it will be highlighted in green. If the executable file of this process is changed, it will become red again.

What is a digital signature for?

An electronic digital signature is an attribute of an electronic document used to protect it against forgery and verify its authenticity. A lot of malicious software disguises itself as Windows system processes. It is possible to forge the name of an executable file, but it is impossible to forge its digital signature. With Prio, you can always analyze the list of running processes in order to check the digital signature of their files or their network activity.

Prio creates the additional Services tab where you can view all installed system services with their statuses, start them, stop them and change the method they are started with. There are also tooltips with the description of each service (if there is such information for it).

TCP/IP tab.


Prio uses the additional TCP/IP tab to display all established TCP connections and all open ports (TCP and UDP). Both statistical data (the number of sent and received bytes) and rate is shown for each connection. There are also useful tooltips showing information about the process that established this connection. Besides, you can go to such processes immediately via the popup menu.

Silent Elevation.


What is Silent Elevation for?

It happens that you have to often launch a software under administrative access level (e.g. Task Manager or Visual Studio) and every time go through UAC (User Access Control) request. However for safety reason it would be wrong to disable UAC. In such cases the new functionality of Prio "Silent Elevation" is very helpful. It allows specifying a given software for the administrative launch without UAC request. This feature significantly improves the usability without threatening the system safety.

How to Enable Silent Elevation?

All you need to do is to right-click a process in the Processes tab and check the box 'Silent Elevation'. The selected processes along with other Prio settings are saved for the current user profile in the file %APPDATA%\prio.ini.

How Does Silent Elevation Work?

Silent Elevation is executed by the Prio service which can hold the launch of the processes marked as 'Silent Elevation' and launch their copies under the current user account but with the administrative rights, if the current user has them.

Rename Photos and Files Automatically




Sometimes it can be a pain to constantly rename new files and/or photos as you move them onto your computer. We’ve covered quite a few batch file renamers in the past, but one area that makes Personal Renamer unique is in its automatic processing capabilities. With it you can actually have it scan a directory at an interval that you designate, and it will keep an eye out for files it should rename according to the criteria you specify.
The system got me excited when I first noticed this piece of functionality, but there was one thing that I just couldn’t wrap my head around at first. This app says that after it renames the files that it can move them to another directory (otherwise it will keep renaming the files regardless of whether it has already done so). It took me a minute to realize exactly how you’re supposed to specify where to move the files to. The box along the right side of the screen is used to show you what the output will look like after the files have been renamed, and above the box is where you can change the directory you want the files placed in. That way they won’t continuously be getting renamed.
Once I got passed that hurdle I’d say the app became a lot more useful. I could point this to a source directory, specify an output directory, give it some renaming criteria, and set it on its merry way. Then whenever any new files would arrive they would automatically get processed.
