AllDup is a freeware which enables you to find duplicate files on your Computer. The programs has a host of options allowing you to find matches of file by size, name, date, attributes, created date and even byte to byte comparison. You can perform search across multiple folders or drives. The program implements a fast algorithm and the results are displayed very quickly.
After selecting the folders that you want to scan, just hit the scan button and the program will find and display the results. The results are displayed in the group and they also give you more information like the name of the file, location, size etc. You can select the files that you want to remove or you can further filter it by using the smart selection option that can select files based on there locations or date. There are several things you can do with the duplicate files. You can remove them, move or copy them to a new location or even rename

them. While searching for mp3 files, you can choose to ignore the mp3 tags. 
The program also includes a built in viewer which allows you to preview a wide variety of files. You can save the search results or restore them later or you can export the results to text or csv file. The duplicate files can also be turned into hard links or shortcuts. You can search by using a variety of filter masks. So if you have a lot of music, videos and pictures on your Computer, there are a lot of chances that there are going to be a lot of duplicates in them. Using this tool, you can find the duplicates pretty quickly and remove them to free up hard disk space.
The program is a freeware and works on Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Windows 7. A portable version of the application is also available.
